This simple honey almond granola recipe is a favorite among my kids. Serve it on top of your favorite yogurt or as a cereal soaked in milk!
Ingredients
- 3 cups dry oatmeal
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- Optional: 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven for 375*F
- Line a 9x13 jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with short sides) with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Melt the butter in a 3 quart saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the honey and salt and heat briefly.
- Add in the oatmeal and stir well.
- Turn the mixture onto the parchment lined cookie sheet and spread out evenly.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan (it will crisp up as it cools).
- For an added treat, add in the chocolate chips once it has cooled!
- Store in a sealed canister and serve with milk or yogurt!
- Enjoy!
Granola Making Tips
- Resist the temptation to put the granola back in the oven after 10 minutes. It gets crispier as it sits and cools.
- This recipe easily doubles. Just make sure to use a second cookie sheet as well. If the granola is not spread out enough, it won’t crisp up as nicely.
- While I love to use parchment paper for easy cleanup, you can also put the honey almond granola directly onto an ungreased baking sheet.

Our favorite ways to use granola
This granola recipe doesn’t last very long in our house – especially when I also have homemade yogurt ready!
But granola isn’t just for yogurt. It’s also great as a cereal with yummy raw milk. Perfect for when you’re out of yogurt and need a quick breakfast as you head out the door.
Of course, it’s also great on its own. The kids love to grab a handful for a quick snack in the afternoon as they go about their day!
