“Bridging the Gap Between Our Dreams and Reality”

Sometimes this means being patient with where you’re at, and focusing on the day to day tasks and skills that are a normal part of life. However, to move forward, there will be a point when you need to take more direct action. Ask yourself, “what is keeping me from achieving my goals and dreams?” For many, it’s finances; but it could also be something like mindset, time, or the lack of knowledge in a specific area. It could even be a combination of a few.

Once you’ve established what is holding you back, it is now time to work on moving past that roadblock. Some people find that they need to take on another job to save for the next step in their dream. Others may need to go back to school or take a course to learn the new skill that they would like to acquire. It’s not going to be easy and it will take time. It’s up to you to determine if it’s worth it.

For us, lack of funds have been a huge factor. It’s not the easiest hurdle to climb, at least not for us. However, we don’t give up. One of our biggest challenges is finding ways to increase our income without it dramatically affecting our family life. I’ve looked into going back to school for a certification and working in the evenings and on the weekends. People do it, but it’s not an area that we’re ready to compromise in just yet, so ours is a much slower route.

What We’ve Done in the Past

Depending on how long you’ve known me, you may know many of the different things we have worked on to try to increase our income. I began by starting a candle business. That kind of fell apart as my kids stopped taking consistent naps. Then I simultaneously started this blog and got involved with a network marketing company. I’m still here on the blog – no, we haven’t really made an income with it at all, but it’s important to me to continue with it in order to encourage others in this journey. As for network marketing, I made enough most months to cover the cost of the products my family used. However, with all that we put into it, we lost more than we gained in terms of funds. I’ve also taken on an odd job here and there. This included tutoring my younger in-laws in science and taking on a short-term job as an in-home care provider for an elderly woman.

Looking at the above paragraph can get a bit depressing when they’re just viewed as “failures.” It’s not easy to try to work towards a specific goal when it feels like all you do is fail. So, instead of failures, I now view these as learning experiences. We may have failed in the goal to increase our income with these specific ventures, but we have gained a lot of experience and knowledge that can be applied toward future ventures.

….Like the One We’re Starting Now.

Most of the ventures that I started had a partial or full online component to them. I’m pretty technically savvy to begin with, but I was able to acquire more skills that allow me to get to a point where I can offer them to others.

I help family-focused businesses and bloggers stay on target with their income-producing goals by taking on their online administrative tasks and social media management tasks on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. However, my main focus is on helping busy mompreneurs free up time to work on the heart of their business and be with their families while still being able to connect with their clients or customers in a personal and empathetic way, by managing their page or group on Facebook.

As a business owner in this day and age, it’s important to have an online presence as well as keep up with all of the online administrative tasks that are required to keep the business going and stay visible to one’s audience. However, many business owners would prefer to focus more on the reason that they started the business in the first place – creating and developing their products or connecting with their clients in meaningful ways.

As a virtual administrative consultant, I’m able to harness the skills that I have learned over the last 5 years and apply them to these other businesses. Not only am I able to use these skills, but I am now able to help encourage others (these business owners with their unique visions) to bridge the gap between THEIR dreams and reality in a whole new way!
