Allowing Yourself to Dream

Dream

Do you allow yourself to dream?

What do you dream about?

Do those dreams give you butterflies in your stomach? Do they seem almost impossible?

Maybe you haven’t thought about your dreams for a long time. Think about it now. Reach back and start to think of possibilities for your life until you start feeling those butterflies again.

Maybe those dreams bring tears to your eyes because they seem so far out of reach that you’ve lost hope that they’re even possible.

Our Habit

My husband and I started this habit of dreaming together quite a few years ago. There are very many things that we would like to accomplish – things that we feel God has placed on our hearts for a reason.

…but these dreams seem very much impossible. Without our Faith, they would be impossible. We don’t know exactly how these dreams will turn out in reality, but we know that God will continue to lead us as long as we remain open to His will and the prompts He places on our hearts.

When It’s Hard to Dream

There are times when discouragement and despair get the best of us, and we lose the ability to dream. The key to being able to dream again is to regain hope. For a while I thought I was pretty much the queen of dreams – I knew if I could do nothing else, that I could still dream and hope for a better future. Then there came a point when I lost hope. Sometimes it would happen occasionally and last for a day, but this time it lasted for months. I couldn’t dream anymore. I could barely even hope anymore.

Have you ever felt that way? Do you currently feel that way? If you do, then it’s okay not to dream. You’ll get there. But cling on to hope. Don’t lose hope. Find someone who you can reach out to who can help encourage you in that. If you don’t know anyone who can help you find hope again, then please reach out to me and we can chat.

What’s the Purpose of a Dream Unless It Gives?

Now I do think there is a difference between a dream and a wish. A wish is something that one desires for oneself, while a dream also looks to service others. A dream comes from a place of love. A love for others.

Who does your dream serve? Are you looking to create a better life for your family? Or maybe you have this dream to help change the world?

Faith, Hope, and Love

If you didn’t catch on: Dreams are possible through Faith, with Hope, and in Love. Faith is a trust in God’s loving providence and generosity. Hope is the desire for something to happen. Love is the ability to look past oneself and look towards the well-being of another.
